If you have a galvanized type pressure tank it is sometimes necessary to remove the water from this tank and recharge it with air. The following steps should be done at least two to three times per year.
  1. Turn off the electricity to the pump.
  2. Open a faucet to drain off the pressure on the pressure tank.
  3. With an air compressor, force air into the pressure tank until all the water has been removed.
  4. Once all the water has been removed, close the faucet and put 20 pounds of air pressure in the pressure tank.
  5. Turn the switch to the pump back on and allow the tank to fill with water.
  6. When the pump builds up pressure and shuts off, run the water till the pump starts again. Your pressure tank is now ready to be put back in service.
